A representative from Job Corps will be available at the library on a bi-monthly basis to provide information on their free career training and education program. See below for more information on what they offer:
Job Corps is a free career training and education program.
The U.S. Department of Labor program enrolls more than 50,000 students each year.
For those students, Job Corps is a first step toward careers in high-demand industries.
It connects eligible young men and women, ages 16 through 24, with the skills and educational opportunities they need to establish real careers.
There are campus locations throughout NYC and upstate NY nationwide that provide hands-on career training in 11 high-growth industry sectors, including health care, informational technology, finance and business, and advanced manufacturing, to name just a few.
At the Brooklyn Job Corps Center, we offer a variety of programs, including a Certified Nurse Assistant program, a Clinical Medical Assistant program, a Security and Protective Services program, Culinary Arts, and Information Technology programs.
Job Corps is strategic about the training programs it offers—all programs lead to real opportunities and a path to higher incomes. People are hiring in these industries. We don’t train in things because they’re fun (though many of them are). We train in them because they offer career paths and living wages.
