While many Long Islanders know of Salem's witch hunts, they may not know that Long Island had its very own witchcraft trial more than three decades earlier - the trial of Goody Garlick. To help us understand, Dr. Tara Rider,  a senior lecturer at Stony Brook U., delves into stresses of 17th century life, why women were targets, and why the fear of witches existed.
